What we collect, and why

Last updated: 5 October 2026

Vadodara Social helps people in Vadodara find company for plans, activities and events. This policy explains what personal data we collect, what we do with it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Vadodara Social website and Android app, both operated by Aditya Jain.

What we collect

When you create an account. Your email address, and a password if you set one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google email address and basic profile details from Google — we never see your Google password.

When you set up your profile. Your display name, date of birth, gender, the area of Vadodara you are in, and optionally a short bio and a profile photo. Your date of birth is used to work out an age band; your exact date of birth is never shown to other members.

When you use the app. The plans and events you create or join, requests you send and receive, messages and images you exchange in chat, plans you save or mark yourself interested in, members you block, and reports you submit about other members.

On your device. If you allow notifications, a push notification token for your device, and whether it is Android or iOS. This identifies the device, not you personally, and is removed when you sign out.

When you arrive through a partner's link or QR code. Cafés, gyms, colleges and others sometimes share Vadodara Social through a link or QR code of their own. When you open one, we record that it was opened and when, which promotion it belongs to, a random identifier your browser or the app makes up for itself, the broad kind of device and browser (for example, Android and Chrome), and the address of the website you came from if there was one, never the page. If you then install the app from Google Play, Play tells the app which promotion the install came from. If you create an account, this is connected to it, so we can tell which promotions bring people in. We do not use your device's advertising identifier or any other device identifier for this, and partners are never told who you are.

Automatically. A record of significant actions on your account — creating or cancelling a plan, deciding a join request — so that hosts and members have an accurate history, and so we can investigate reports.

We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, or your device's advertising identifier. We do not run advertising, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.

What other members can see

This is a social app, so some of your information is deliberately visible to others. On public plans, other members see your display name, profile photo, age band (such as 25–34, never your exact age or date of birth), your area of Vadodara, and your verification status.

Your email address and any phone number are never shown to other members. Chat is only available between people already connected through a plan, and chat images are stored privately and shared only with the two people in that conversation.

How we use it

To create and secure your account; to show you relevant plans and events near you; to let hosts decide join requests; to deliver notifications you have asked for; to investigate reports and enforce our Terms of Use; and to keep the service working and safe.

We rely on your consent for optional things such as push notifications and your profile photo, and on the necessity of performing our agreement with you for the rest. You can withdraw consent for notifications at any time in your device settings.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract:

  • Supabase — database, authentication and file storage.
  • Cloudflare — website hosting and content delivery.
  • Google — sign-in with Google, if you choose it, and Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications.
  • Our email provider — to send verification, password reset and account emails.
  • PostHog — product analytics and error reporting, so we can see which parts of the app are working and fix what breaks.

Our analytics deliberately records only actions — a plan was created, a request was sent — identified by an internal account number. It does not record your name, email, the content of your messages, or your screen. Screen recording is switched off.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to protect the safety of a member or the public.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on servers operated by the providers above, which may be located outside India. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on our providers' contractual safeguards to protect it.

How long we keep it

We keep your profile and activity for as long as your account is open.

When you delete your account from the Profile screen, your profile and plans are immediately hidden from every other member and removed from discovery. Some information is retained after that point: your sign-in credentials, and records needed to keep other members' histories intact — for example, a message you sent remains visible to the person you sent it to, and a report you filed remains available for us to act on.

If you have already uninstalled the app, or cannot sign in, you can still request deletion — see Delete your account.

If you want your remaining data erased entirely, contact us at aditya@infodata.in and we will action it.

Your rights

You can access and correct most of your information yourself on the Profile screen. You also have the right to ask us to correct or erase your personal data, to ask what we hold about you, and to nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to.

To make a request, or to complain about how we have handled your data, contact our Grievance Officer:

We will acknowledge your request and respond within the timeframes required by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Members under 18

You must be at least 18 to use Vadodara Social. We ask for your date of birth during setup and refuse to create an account below that age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has an account, contact us using the details below and we will remove it.

When they do, we record their name, their email address and the date and time permission was given. We keep this as evidence that consent was obtained, as the law requires. A guardian's details are never shown to other members and are used only to contact them about the account.

A parent or guardian can withdraw permission at any time by contacting aditya@infodata.in. When they do, we close the account and remove the member's data.

Members under 18 are treated differently in one important way: they cannot create or publish public plans, and do not appear in public discovery. This is enforced by the service, not left to the member.

We do not profile members under 18, show them advertising, or track them for advertising purposes.

Security

Access to your data is enforced at the database level, so one member cannot read another member's private information even if something goes wrong in the app. Connections are encrypted in transit. No service can promise perfect security, but we take this seriously and act quickly on anything reported to us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects you meaningfully, tell you in the app.
